This page serves to provide a quick reference for determining which weapons have reduced special attacks. Special reduction is a mechanic whereby certain weapons will have the percent chance of their special attack activating, or the effectiveness of the special attack reduced, in order to compensate for their ability to target multiple enemies or to strike an enemy more than one time per attack. Which kind of reduction is applied depends on the special attack being used.

Whether or not a weapon's special is reduced is determined by the weapon's hex code, as reduction is applied to weapons in certain weapon "hex groups," which are as follows: 02, 03, 04, 05, 08, and 09. These hex groups correspond to the groups of weapons listed below.

A long-standing misconception about special reduction is the belief that weapons with a rarity of 9★ or less are reduced, with weapons of 10★ rarity or higher being unreduced. While this line of thinking does end up being mostly true, there are two notable exceptions in Sword icon.pngZero Divide and Sword icon.pngAsteron Belt--both of which are 10★ weapons, but have reduced specials as per the hex group rule.

Reduction is applied to any special that is not sacrificial or elemental damage (fire or lightning).

Melee weapons

Swords

The special activation rate for these Swords is reduced to 50% effectiveness.

Daggers

The special activation rate for these Daggers is reduced to 50% effectiveness.

Partisans

The special activation rate for these Partisans is reduced to 50% effectiveness.

Slicers

The special activation rate for these Slicers is reduced to 33% effectiveness.

Ranged weapons

Mechguns

The special activation rate for these Mechguns is reduced to 33% effectiveness.

Shots

The special activation rate for these Shots is reduced to 33% effectiveness.
