If the player finds Hopkins before the quest, then brings Paganini the data from the top of the Control Tower during {{Quest link|The East Tower}}, the "Modify ES Weapon" option will be available in Paganini's exchange in {{Quest link|Gallon's_Shop#Paganini's_exchange|Gallon's Shop}} for the character that completes this sidequest (which can be completed on any difficulty). {{Quest link|The East Tower}}

The "Modify ES Weapon" option allows the player to trade {{Tool|rare|Photon Drop|Photon Drops}} in exchange for adding a [[Weapons#Special attacks|special attack]] to their [[ES weapons|ES weapon]], with the available specials depending on the number of Photon Drops in the player's inventory and the ES Weapon in question.

Note that unlike [[Gallon's Shop#Item Exchange|Paganini's exchange]], adding specials to ES weapons will only consume the indicated number of Photon Drops for the special added, rather than all Photon Drops carried in the inventory.

* Kill Epsilon on the top floor of the Control Tower, then interact with the terminal (you will receive a Quest Board item)
** Upon killing Epsilon, player teleporters (via {{Tool|Telepipe}} or {{Ryuker}}) can no longer be created, and any that are active will be turned off. The gate in the Lab leading to the Central Control Area will also become locked. If you use the provided teleporter ''before'' interacting with the terminal, you will be forced to redo the quest to complete the sidequest
* Return to the lab and talk to Hopkins ''before'' ending the quest

After finishing the quest by freeing the bosses' wife, a side quest can be completed to earn {{Tool|rare|Cell of Mag 502}}.

This reward can only be received on Hard difficulty or above and only once per character.
# Instead of returning to Pioneer 2, turn around and backtrack to the warp. It should take you back to the southeast corner of the map.
# After warping, go east to the Rappy (Tailor Rappy) sitting where 4 boxes spawn. Talk to them and exhaust their dialogue to get "Pretty Clothes".
# Now go west one room, then head northeast to the room that usually has the glowing interactable pillar and boxes during forest exploration. You should find a Rappy named Rapyos there.
# Talk to Rapyos and select the following dialogue options:
## Allow to confide.
## Try something else.
# Leave Rapyos' room and head west, through the laser grid to find another Rappy named Rapymes.

{{Tool|rare|Lock-on Filter}} is a rare [[Tools|tool]]. It may be used on the weapons {{Gun|rare|Heaven Punisher}} and {{Gun|rare|Mille Marteaux}} to enable them to use their "auto-aim" special attack regardless of the current [[beat time]].

To apply the filter, equip a compatible piece of equipment, and use the Lock-on Filter in the inventory. A weapon with the Lock-on Filter applied will have its name appended with an asterisk (*), and also have "Style: Lock-on" in the item description.
