So, I'm only following details of the old guide I found.
The guide claimed Hard mode only, but I played on Very Hard.
I have not repeated the quest in another difficulty or on another character.
It's possible that some of these restrictions are removed in the Ephinea version, as it was orginally a time limited quest.

I'm not sure if writing guidance here is suitable, but it's a very frustrating quest as it is.
