It produces energy waves that boost Grants.

Mercurius Rod is a rare rod with the highest weapon-based Grants boost in the game, and Gifoie as its special attack.

Despite being weak in range and damage, the Gifoie special is situationally useful to interrupt specific enemy attacks (e.g. Spawning Dorphon/Delbiter charges, Zu dives, etc). It also excels at splitting Pofuilly Slimes (using the special attack as the 3rd attack in the combo) if TP is low and/or Rabarta is unavailable, as the low damage prevents the Slimes from being destroyed early.
