Quests
Ephinea offers not only the original Sonic Team quests but an assortment of community and staff created quests. The majority of quests are available in play both Solo Mode and Multi Mode, but some are specific to their respective mode. To begin a quest, approach the appropriate counter and speak to the representative. A list of available quests will be displayed along with a short description. After selecting a quest the client who has commissioned the quest will give you further details about the mission. Depending on the quest, you may not always have to go to the planet. The quest will be complete after defeating a certain enemy or solving a certain mystery. For most quests, a transporter back to the city will be provided upon completion. Return to the quest client and speak to them. They will give a resolution of the events and unlock the quest reward from the reception counter. It is possible to quit a quest mid-mission, but if you do you will be unable to claim the reward offered.
Government Quests
The Government Quest counter is located in the Principle's office in episodes 1 & 4, and in the lab in episode 2. Similar to previous versions of Phantasy Star Online's offline story quests, Government Quests involve investigating the surface of Ragol and uncovering the mystery of what happened to the Pioneer Project. Each episode's quests must be completed in order to progress. Unlike other quests, players may join Government Quests while they are in progress.
Hunter's Guild
The Hunter's Guild counter is located in the city, in the same room where new players are spawned. The Hunter's Guild allows players to undertake quest missions for rewards. The rewards differs depending on the content of the mission. It is also used to begin Battle and Challenge Mode games.
Challenge Mode
When creating a team in the Visual Lobby, select CHALLENGE for Mode. Challenge stages are available for both Episode I and II. They consist of nine and 5 stages respectively. Teams must clear each stage in order to progress. At the start of each challenge stage, all levels and statuses will be reset to the levels default. Returning to the City is not possible until selected stage is cleared. Usage of Telepipes, Ryuker, Reverser, and Moon Atomizers is not possible. Each player is given a set number of Scape Dolls, these dolls are the only way team members can be revived. The whole team will be sent back to the Hunter’s Guild if the HP of one of the participating member drops to zero and they are not holding a scape doll.
Battle Mode
When creating a team in the Visual Lobby, select BATTLE for Mode. Players battle one another by rules set by the party leader. At the beginning of each game the rules set by the team leader will be displayed and each player will be positioned at one of four starting locations. Players compete to defeat as many of their opponents within the time limit. Depending on the selected rules, weapons, items, equipment, Mags, and techniques mat not used. A player falls when their HP drops to 0. If still within the time limit they then be returned to their starting location and can continue to battle. The game is over when time expires.
