- This article is about the status effect. For the weapon special, see Freeze.
Freeze is a status effect in PSO. It can be applied by:
- a freeze trap,
- casting Gibarta or Rabarta,
- a special attack from a Blizzard-series weapon,
- Deldepth's or Gol Dragon's projectile attack,
- a breath attack from Sil Dragon or Gol Dragon,
- a blue Epsigard attack,
- Crimson Assassin's spit attack
- Girtablulu's melee attack when its claws are blue
- Hildeblue, Chaos Sorcerer, Zol Gibbon, Sinow Zoa / Zele, Merissa A / AA, Girtablulu, all able to cast Gibarta
- Dark Falz casting Rabarta during two phases
- turret traps in Episode II that cast Gibarta
Frozen Shooter and Snow Queen will also randomly freeze the player if equipped for too long.
Mechanics
Freeze, Confuse, Shock, and Slow cannot affect the same player or monster at the same time; if a player or monster is inflicted with any of these statuses, they will lose any others they have. Freeze will suppress flinching animations and invulnerability frames, making it a very dangerous status effect when surrounded.
Players
Freeze lasts for 5 seconds, but they can end the effect earlier by having level 7 Anti cast on them or by repeatedly moving left and right. Freeze prevents players from moving, attacking, casting techniques, or using items. Players with a Cure/Freeze equipped are immune to freeze.
Monsters
Freeze lasts for 5 seconds, and the effect cannot have its timer reset by reapplying it midway through the duration. Freeze prevents monsters from moving or attacking. Epsilon, Zu, Pazuzu, Dorphon, Dorphon Eclair, Girtablulu, and all bosses are immune to freeze. Frozen monsters' EVP is reduced by 30%.
Special attacks
Players and monsters can be frozen using the special attack from a Blizzard-series weapon. Provided the attack connects, each special has a different chance of success.
Androids receive a 30% boost to the activation rate of all freezing specials on Ultimate difficulty. This value can be added directly to the values in the Power column (for example, Frost would have a power of 78%). V501 and V502 give an additional 50% boost to the activation rate of freezing specials; these stack with the android boost, but not with each other.
Base Freeze Chance = ((Power) - (ESP)) * (Special Reduction) Freeze Chance = min((Base Freeze Chance), (Difficulty Cap)) * (Unit Boost)
The Difficulty Cap
is 40%.
Rarity | Special Name | Power |
---|---|---|
1★ | Ice | 32% |
2★ | Frost | 48% |
3★ | Freeze | 64% |
4★ | Blizzard | 80% |
Frozen Shooter and Snow Queen have special mechanics with freezing targets; if the projectile from their special attack connects, it has a 100% chance to freeze any non-immune enemy.
