The length of this staff can be changed.
Its special attack can take away half of an enemy's health.

Sword icon.pngMonkey King Bar is a rare double saber that is the precursor to the upgraded Sword icon.pngBlack King Bar.

Despite Black King Bar being the strongest double saber in the game, it is popular to keep Monkey King Bar as-is, as at high enough hit% values its Devil's special attack can be utilized effectively by Rangers. It is also the second-strongest double saber that male Rangers can equip, with the first being Sword icon.pngGirasole, and females being able to equip the stronger-still Sword icon.pngVivienne.

Combinations

Equipping Sword icon.pngMonkey King Bar and using a Tool icon.pngBlue-black Stone will consume the Blue-black Stone and turn this weapon into Sword icon.pngBlack King Bar. The attributes from the equipped Monkey King Bar will transfer to the resulting Black King Bar.

This combination must be performed by a Hunter of level 100 or higher with at least 800 ATP.

Trivia

  • This weapon is a reference to Ruyi Jingu Bang, a magical staff wielded by Sun Wukong, also known as the Monkey King.
  • Monkey King Bar appears in later Phantasy Star titles as a weapon called 'Nyoibo', a transliteration of its Japanese name.
