Chao may be obtained by using the rare Mag cell Heart of Chao on an equipped third evolution Mag with 35+ levels in each of DEF, POW, DEX, and MIND.

Be aware that a level 140 Mag with 35/35/35/35 stats will evolve into a fourth evolution Mag, becoming ineligible for use with Heart of Chao. In order to avoid this problem, it is recommended to level one or more stats beyond 35 before raising the lowest stat to 35 while also targeting a stat distribution, character class, character gender, and Section ID combination that does NOT fulfill a fourth evolution requirement. Do not feed the third evolution Mag on any fourth-evolution-Mag-eligible combination at any point during level 140 prior to using the Mag cell. Combinations

Equipping Branch of Pakupaku and using a Chao mag from the inventory will consume both items and create Striker of Chao. The Branch of Pakupaku equipped at the time of use will have its attributes transferred to the resulting Striker of Chao.

This combination must be performed on a Force of level 100 or higher with at least 695 MST.

Note that it is not necessary to perform this combination to obtain a Striker of Chao, as a Branch of Pakupaku can be converted into Striker of Chao through a sidequest in Towards the Future (though this will not transfer the Branch of Pakupaku's attributes to the resulting Striker of Chao).

One Chao is one of five trade components for the Red Ring plating Bunny Plating in the quest The Forge.

Trivia

• This Mag is based on Chao, recurring creatures from the Sonic the Hedgehog series. They made their first appearance in Sonic Adventure.
