Strategy

Phase 1

When players spawn into the arena, the boss fight must still be initiated by any one player approaching Shambertin's egg at the center of the arena (similar to touching the monument to initiate the fight with Dark Falz).

Note: In some cases, it is possible that a player occupying the first or second slot in the party touching the egg will result in the boss fight failing to correctly initiate for all players other than the player in the first slot. The cutscene of Shambertin bursting out of the rocks will not play, and the northmost cave in the second phase will remain inaccessible, as it will be blocked by the rocks. To avoid this, have players in the third or fourth slot approach the egg to initiate the boss fight whenever possible.

When the fight begins (and/or before it has even started), it is advised for players to create distance between themselves to minimize damage from overlapping the spinners that will immediately spawn in triangle formations of three spinners directly around each individual player, as well as scattered randomly around the arena.

To damage Shambertin, players must look for and destroy any one of the three colored spinners located randomly in the arena. Once a colored spinner has been destroyed, a short cutscene of Shambertin's tail bursting from the ground will play, and four crystals on its body will become vulnerable to damage. Shambertin's tail and crystals will remain exposed as its tail rises to an upright position, at which point Shambertin will initate a sweeping tail attack against all players in proximity, dealing damage and burrowing back underground to return to the previous phase.

The speed at which Shambertin's tail raises--and thus the amount of time players have while the crystals are vulnerable--is determined by the color of the spinner that was destroyed. From fastest speed (and shortest duration) to slowest (and longest duration), they are: yellow, orange, red (e.g. destroying a red spinner will grant players the most amount of time to damage Shambertin).

Once all four tail crystals have been destroyed, Shambertin will transition to its second phase.

Phase 2 (Cave portion)

At the start of Shambertin's second phase, it will fall into and subsequently appear in the eastern-most side cave of the large arena.

Normally, players would pursue Shambertin into the cave to continue dealing damage by attacking the crystals around its neck. After any crystal is broken, Shambertin will retreat from the side cave and return back to either the southwest or southeast of the larger arena. More damage can then be done to the neck crystals, and when another is broken, Shambertin will initiate its full-arena laser attack, where the camera angle shifts to a wider view showing the laser striking its egg.

Following this attack, Shambertin will once again retreat into another side cave (chosen randomly), and this process will repeat until Shambertin is killed by destroying the final neck crystal while it is positioned at the southeast of the larger arena.

Phase 2 can be sped up significantly, however, if all four neck crystals are damaged evenly to the point of destruction. When done correctly, all but one crystal will be destroyed, while the last remaining crystal will "reset" its HP to around the 2,500 HP mark. Shambertin will immediately proceed to the southeast of the large arena, and, once there, be able to be killed by destroying the last remaining crystal, ending the fight without having to chase it into any further side caves.

Damaging all four crystals evenly is best performed by having any one member of the party proceeding into the first side cave alone (and is thus recommended to be done by the player with the highest HP, level, or who is otherwise able to withstand Shambertin's attacks without support) and performing any of the following three strategies. Performing the strategy alone reduces the amount of spinners Shambertin will spawn to damage players in the side cave, and minimizes the risk of the crystals receiving uneven damage from multiple sources.

Techniques

Forces, especially FOmar and FOnewm, can destroy Shambertin's neck crystals simultaneously by positioning themselves at the edge of the arena closest to Shambertin, offset slightly to the right of the center, and repeatedly casting Gizonde.pngGizonde to damage all four crystals. Equipment that boosts Gizonde's damage, such as Cane icon.pngMagical Piece, Shield icon.pngGizonde Merge, and Frame icon.pngTempest Cloak is highly recommended here.

This strategy requires careful positioning and timing, however, as some of Shambertin's attacks or animations (notably the roar preceeding its beam attack, and the recoil from its missile attack) will position the rearmost crystals out of range of the technique. If the player is turned around as a result of being struck by the missile attack, they must reorient themselves to face Shambertin to guarantee that the rearmost crystals continue to be damaged by Gizonde.

Divine Punishment

Rangers, especially RAmarl, can destroy Shambertin's neck crystals simultaneously by utilizing Divine Punishment, the unique special attack granted to the rare weapons Gun icon.pngHeaven Punisher and Gun icon.pngMille Marteaux, as well as Gun icon.pngHeaven Striker while a Mag icon.pngStriker Unit is equipped, when the hundreds digit of the beat time is even (or regardless of beat time in the case of a Heaven Punisher that has been combined with a Tool icon.pngDivine Filter). Repeated use of Divine Punishment will target and damage all four crystals evenly, potentially clearing this phase even quicker than Forces can.

While the positioning of using Divine Punishment is more lenient than that of the Gizonde stategy, the player performing this strategy should still be wary of their timing, as Divine Punishment has a small delay between when the attack button is pressed and when the special attack's lasers descend from the sky and connect with the target. If done improperly, it is still possible for the neck crystals to become invulnerable, or for the rear neck crystals to fall out of range of the special attack, resulting in uneven damage.

Estlla

With appropriate timing, the Estlla.pngEstlla photon blast can be used to quickly destroy all four of Shambertin's neck crystals in the cave portion of the fight simultaneously. The following EVP values are necessary to kill in a single use (these values assume maximum mag stats).

PB EVP
150 1663
160 1547
170 1445
180 1355
190 1273
200 1200
Note: EVP values based on 0 MST. "PB" column indicates the required amount of Photon Blast gauge. Amounts greater than 100 are reached via other players donating or chaining.

Because the first PB value is greater than 140 (and killing with only 140 PB requires EVP values higher than the highest value HUcaseal can achieve), destroying the crystals with only a single use of Estlla on its own requires at least two other players who have at least 20 PB to donate to the blast. Having a second player also with 100 PB that chains another blast to Estlla removes this restriction. Keep in mind that the player performing Estlla must still be the one to initiate the chain, and must still have the required EVP values for this strategy to work.
