Smartlink is a rare unit that removes the accuracy penalty that Hunters and Forces incur when using ranged attacks (which includes Slicers and Cards).
The ranged accuracy penalty is a percent reduction to the chance to hit, which is calculated after the ATA vs. EVP calculation. The accuracy penalty without Smartlink equipped is 0.33% per unit of distance. Rangers lack this penalty as a trait inherent to their class, and thus do not need (nor can they equip) this unit.
This unit is considered a staple for all Hunters and Forces who use any ranged weapon, as without this unit, they will miss more attacks with ranged weapons from their maximum distances.
