The sword is said to be at its most powerful when the sun is at its highest.
- In-game description

Sword icon.pngGalatine is a rare saber, and the strongest in the game on a single-attack-damage basis due to its high ATP and sacrificial special. Despite this, Sword icon.pngExcalibur is still frequently used in Galatine's place, as Excalibur is more easily hunted from non-boss enemies, and can strike more than one target.

Galatine's high base ATA and sacrificial Spirit special nonetheless make it a powerful single-target melee damage weapon choice for non-android hunters, rangers, and FOmar and FOmarl, even at relatively low hit%.

Trivia

  • Galatine is inspired by the legendary sword of the same name.
  • In Arthurian lore, Galatine is said to be the shadow to Excalibur's light, and its strength grows under sunlight. This description appropriately matches its abilities in Phantasy Star Online.
  • Galatine appears as a weapon camo in Phantasy Star Online 2.
  • Galatine used to have its power affected by beat time before an Ephinea update on April 30th, 2023. It had a base ATP of 330-420, which was then multiplied by the values below depending on beat time (the color of the sword still changes from blue to yellow during the same times as before):
    • 000-124: 0.33x (110-140)
    • 125-249: 0.5x (165-210)
    • 250-374: 1x (330-420)
    • 375-499: 2x (660-840)
    • 500-624: 3x (990-1260)
    • 625-749: 2x (660-840)
    • 750-874: 1x (330-420)
    • 875-999: 0.5x (165-210)
