Pofuilly Slimes are evasive enemies. Most of the time, they slide around the floor in their untargetable blob form, completely immune to every form of damage except for damage traps. At odd intervals, they will stop and rise up, becoming vulnerable to attack. While standing, they can launch one of two attacks: a bouncing blue fireball, or a slime scythe that forms under their target. If the fireball hits another Pofuilly Slime, that slime may split into two slimes. The scythe can also hit other enemies. After taking damage, a Pofuilly Slime will revert to its blob form, unless that damage comes from the third hit of a combo.

Pofuilly Slime is an enemy native to Cave 2 and Cave 3.

Behavior/Mechanics

Pofuilly Slimes are evasive enemies. Most of the time, they slide around the floor in their untargetable "puddle" form, completely immune to every form of damage except for damage traps. Once they are close enough to a player (but not touching), they will stop and rise up, becoming vulnerable to attack. While standing, they can launch one of two attacks: a bouncing blue fireball, or a slime scythe that forms under their target. If the fireball hits another Pofuilly Slime, that slime may split into two slimes. The scythe can also hit other enemies. After taking damage, a Pofuilly Slime will revert to its puddle form, unless that damage comes from the third hit of a combo.

Technique damage

Pofuilly Slime is one of the few monsters that does not take increased damage from technique boosts.

Monsters that ignore technique boosts:
Area Monster
Cave Pofuilly Slime
Pouilly Slime
Mine Vol Opt (2nd phase)
CCA Gi Gue
Sinow Berill
Sinow Spigell
Seabed Sinow Zoa
Sinow Zele
Olga Flow (2nd phase)

Strategy

  • A single Pofuilly Slime on a map consists of a special, invisible control enemy and the enemies that players will interact with. The control enemy has 0 HP and does not move--any hit will kill it and all of the visible slimes. Damage traps only check for enemy proximity on the XZ plane, thereby killing all slimes when detonated within range of the control slime. Slimes killed in this way may still drop items as normal (including rare drops).
  • A single Pofuilly Slime can usually be split to create four separate enemies. However, it is possible for quests to designate the limit as one, two, three, or four Slimes. Stages 3 and 4 in Episode 1 Challenge randomly designate Slimes with fewer than four clones.
  • Pofuilly Slimes should be struck with high-damage attacks, as after damaging them once, they return to their grounded, untargetable puddle form. Strong physical attacks and fire, lightning, or Grants.pngGrants techniques work best.
  • If struck with the third hit of a combo, a Pofuilly Slime will split without returning to its puddle form. Gibarta.pngGibarta and Rabarta.pngRabarta can also be used to split them.
  • Pofuilly Slimes can be Freeze.pngFrozen in their moving state, increasing the time to kill.

Rare spawn

A Pofuilly Slime has a 1/500 chance of spawning as a Pouilly Slime. This also applies to additional Pofuilly Slimes spawned off of an original, making intentional splitting of slimes effective at hunting Pouilly slimes.
