Sword icon.pngTsumikiri J-Sword is a rare sword obtained by unsealing the weapon Sword icon.pngSealed J-Sword, and one of the rarest items in the game.

Tsumikiri J-Sword's special attack is a 360° wave attack that deals Heavy attack damage and cannot miss. The attack requires 20 Photon Blast gauge to initiate, and the gauge is quickly decreased to 0. The attack can be used repeatedly if the player has enough PB.

If there is not enough PB to initiate a Special attack, an attack with Heavy attack physical damage and accuracy multipliers is performed instead.

With at least 79 PB (see Notes), a player may perform a full 3-attack combo using Special attacks. However, the minimum PB required to start a Special attack will fully deplete PB before the attack extends to its maximum range.

The game will display the PB gauge changing at a maximum rate of 1PB/frame. Tsumikiri J-Sword's PB drain rate is faster than 1PB/frame, which can lead to the Special attack dissipating earlier than expected and the PB gauge seeming to drain even after the weapon is unequipped.

The Special attack also lingers until PB is depleted. Each wave can deal damage to certain enemies that are vulnerable as they spawn, allowing for up to 3 simultaneous hits.

This weapon effectively outclasses Sword icon.pngBerdysh with similar Special attack behavior, but with higher ATP and Special attack damage multiplier.

As Tsumikiri J-Sword is a weapon originating from a sealed item, it can only have a maximum of two weapon attributes instead of the usual three.

Reskins

Tsumikiri J-Sword has Ephinea-exclusive cosmetic skins that can be obtained. This renames the Tsumikiri J-Sword to Tsumikiri J-Sword*. The skin can be removed via using Tool icon.pngNeutralizer, but you will not receive the used weapon skin back.

Each of these skins lack the blue bubble particle for the special attack. The pillar particles and the weapon otherwise functions normally.

Availability

Unsealing

Tsumikiri J-Sword can be obtained by selecting the "Use" option on a Sealed J-Sword with 23,000 kills accumulated.

Notes

  • Each Special attack can hit a maximum of 8 targets.
  • Similar to Berdysh, by using Tsumikiri J-Sword's Special attack and swapping to a different weapon, a player may prevent the Special attack from draining all of their PB. By buffering a weapon swap, players may intentionally drain as little as 38 PB. Intentional partial draining of PB may allow for players to more quickly re-achieve 100 PB Mag triggers.

  • The Special attack expands outward from the player's current location to a maximum radius while continuously draining PB. When the real PB value is depleted (the PB gauge may lag behind the true PB value), the effect ends. The maximum range is not guaranteed.
  • Android Hunters can place a Trap icon.pngtrap and then detonate it with the Special attack.
    • This is typically most useful in detonating a freeze trap while also dealing damage against a spawn of closely packed enemies.
  • Players can also place a trap while a wave is in effect to instantly detonate it.
    • For example, the player can use a single Special attack on a Gi Gue spawning from above to deal damage, causing a flinch animation, bringing the Gi Gue to ground level, and removing the flying state where the monster is immune to Freeze.pngFreeze. With enough PB that the wave is still in effect after the flinch animation is complete, the player can then place a freeze trap to instantly detonate it, safely freezing the Gi Gue.
    • The player may choose to only use one or two Special attacks to keep the PB drain rate lower, allowing the wave(s) to extend further and last longer than if an additional attack was initiated.
  • Oddly, HUmar and HUnewearl can detonate allied player traps with the Special attack, even without trap vision from a consumable Tool icon.pngTrap Vision, equipped Frame icon.pngLieutenant Mantle, or equipped Frame icon.pngSense Plate. They cannot detonate unrevealed hostile traps.
  • If a theoretical infinite amount of PB is generated during the attack, the wave can remain active at maximum range for an infinite amount of time.
    • Considerable PB gain is only possible under specific non-typical gameplay scenarios. For example, a very low level character with high ATP from a Mag, Power materials, and Unit icon.pngUnits can generate uncharacteristically large amounts of PB from the Special attack damage hitting multiple enemies, leading to the wave lasting for several seconds at maximum range. This considerable PB gain during a Special attack diminishes extremely quickly as the character levels up, quickly becoming negligible. Tsumikiri J-Sword's potential PB gain, with its higher weapon ATP and Special attack damage modifiers, is far more significant than Berdysh's potential PB gain under the same circumstances.
See Photon Blasts for PB gain formulas.
  • Although it is exceptionally rare, a Sealed J-Sword with Hit % is potentially worth keeping sealed, as it is the only multi-target weapon in the game that is capable of having Hit % as well as an unreduced Hell special. Additionally, Tsumikiri J-Sword does not benefit significantly from having Hit %, as its special attack is incapable of missing.
    • Note that an Sword icon.pngES Scythe with Hell Special matches the accuracy of a Sealed J-Sword with 5 Hit, and ES Scythe is typically only used by Rangers who have more base ATA than Hunters.
