Jellen is a support technique that lowers the ATP of a group of enemies.
It reduces the ATP of all enemies in the targeting radius around the caster at the time of casting--similarly to the allied targeting of
Resta,
Anti,
Shifta, and
Deband--by a percentage that increases with its level.
Its duration and range is also improved with its level.
The in-game description, also found in the infobox on this page, may seem misleading due to changes in targeting behavior in later versions of Phantasy Star Online as seen in the Trivia section below.
Jellen can be applied by:
- Player casting
Jellen naturally; comparison of maximum technique levels found here - Both
Jellen and
Zalure cast by Gi Gue and Sinow Zele - Both
Jellen and
Zalure directly applied via one of Migium's melee attacks - Both
Jellen and
Zalure level 5 cast by
Prophets of Motav special attack[1] - ES weapons with the
Jellen (level 21) special added, directly applied to the target hit by the weapon attack[2] - Some custom quests may constantly apply
Jellen and/or
Zalure, such as the boss floor of
Gal Da Val's Darkness and all floors of
Raid on Central Tower

Jellen's statistics improve when its level increases, but the MST required to learn it and TP required to cast it increase as well.

Trivia
- In the original Phantasy Star Online release for the Dreamcast (also known as "PSO Version 1") as well as Phantasy Star Online Ver. 2,
Jellen and
Zalure used a different targeting system behaving more closely to
Rafoie. The technique targeted the closest enemy in its range, then applied the effect to this target and all other enemies in a radius centered on the targeted enemy at the time of the effect applying.
Notes
- ↑
Jellen from Prophets of Motav is effectively useless as the item is exceedingly rare, has a high MST requirement, and is only equippable by Forces who will have access to cast level 30
Jellen themselves.
- ↑
Jellen from ES weapons is effectively useless as many classes have access to similar or more powerful
Jellen cast naturally with better targeting, and the high Photon Drop cost compares poorly against other investments
