< Return to FOnewm
FOnewm.png

FOnewm is a newman Force who boasts the strongest Gi- and Ra-series techniques amongst all the Forces, due to his high MST and extra damage boosts. He is widely considered to be the strongest and most versatile Force, as alongside his unparalleled nuking power, he has enough ATP and ATA to equip various important weapons for physical damage in situations where techniques are not viable.

With his versatility, he can tackle all manners of content effectively and does not have any major drawbacks. While he will not hit as hard with weapons as the human Forces, his ATP is respectable and access to Sword icon.pngExcalibur allows him to do high damage where necessary, and his 180 ATA allows him to use Demon's Gun icon.pngES Mechgun for very high HP/DFP targets.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Strongest techniques - Due to FOnewm's high MST and +30% boost to the Gi- and Ra-series techniques, FOnewm is the strongest Force for casting techniques
  • Extremely powerful solo - As FOnewm is a Force, he is very powerful when alone in Episodes 1 and 4
  • High Force ATA - With 180 ATA, FOnewm can hit more reliably than the human forces, and has access to Gun icon.pngES Mechgun for Demon's usage
  • Decent melee - While not as strong as FOmar/FOmarl, and despite his lack of access to Sword icon.pngGalatine, FOnewm is able to deal decent damage with physical weapons where necessary

Cons

  • Low support range - FOnewm does not have any extra range with support techniques, making support hard in parties where a supportive party member may be necessary

Section ID choice

Note that the section ID choices below are merely suggestions, and are not required choices for playing FOnewm. All IDs have tangible benefits, leaving ID selection up to player preference. Below are a few recommended IDs for FOnewm depending on what type of item coverage is preferred.

Finding items that FOnewm hunts well

Bluefull icon.pngBluefull

This section id will be a strong choice for players while they spend time leveling in Very Hard. While leveling, you'll want to run quests that allow you to hunt for the rare enemy, Del Rappy, for a chance to drop Frame icon.pngIgnition Cloak. You can hunt for Unit icon.pngHeavenly/Arms and Tool icon.pngPhoton Crystal in Very Hard, which can be traded to other players to help acquire items for FOnewm.

Once you reach Ultimate on Bluefull, you can hunt for Unit icon.pngLimiter and then unseal it yourself to Unit icon.pngAdept, and also chase high value items like: Cane icon.pngPyscho Wand, Gun icon.pngHeaven Punisher, and Sword icon.pngNei's Claw. Though Bluefull boasts one of the best Pyscho Wand hunts in the game by rate, new players may find it easier to hunt for it themselves through Purplenum icon.pngPurplenum in caves.

Redria icon.pngRedria

This is the most popular ID to host Episode 4 desert quests while hunting for Gun icon.pngHeaven Striker and Sword icon.pngDiska of Braveman.

Redria also has good Ruins drops, finding both Shield icon.pngRed Ring and Sword icon.pngDiska of Braveman.

Purplenum icon.pngPurplenum

You can hunt for Cane icon.pngPyscho Wand in Caves, and host popular hunts for other items in all episodes of the game for items like Gun icon.pngM&A60 Vise, which can be traded to other players for photon drops to help trade for FOnewm items.

Yellowboze icon.pngYellowboze

While leveling in Very Hard, you'll want to run quests that allow you to hunt for the rare enemy, Del Rappy, for a chance to drop Frame icon.pngIgnition Cloak. When you reach Ultimate, you'll have access to some of the best hunts in the game including: Sword icon.pngGalatine, Sword icon.pngExcalibur, Unit icon.pngV101, Sword icon.pngDaylight Scar (rare boss), Gun icon.pngFrozen Shooter, and many other items that have modest value trading with other players.

Greenill icon.pngGreenill

Forces are masters of Episode 4, and Greenill has a very powerful Episode 4 with items such as Unit icon.pngV101, Gun icon.pngHeaven Striker, and Gun icon.pngCannon Rouge. Greenill has decent Ruins drops as well, finding both Shield icon.pngRed Ring and Sword icon.pngMonkey King Bar.

Finding items for FOnewm

Pinkal icon.pngPinkal

If you are looking to hunt items with value for trading, this is rarely the best section id for this character. If you do not intend to trade with other players on Ephinea, Pinkal will be a good choice because it finds many core Force items such as: Cane icon.pngFire Scepter: Agni, Cane icon.pngIce Staff: Dagon, and Cane icon.pngStorm Wand: Indra. It also has boosted rates to all amplifier hunts. Once reaching Ultimate, Pinkal offers useful Force items such as Sword icon.pngSlicer of Fanatic, Unit icon.pngV801, Unit icon.pngLimiter, Cane icon.pngGuardianna, Sword icon.pngLame d'Argent, and Sword icon.pngDiska of Braveman.

General good ID

Whitill icon.pngWhitill

Whitill is a powerful ID that gets many coveted and valued items in almost every area in the game. Whitill is the most unrestrictive ID, giving players the freedom to play any content and still have the chance of scoring something big, in contrast to more restrictive IDs such as Bluefull icon.pngBluefull, which focus players into certain areas. Whitill finds many good items such as Unit icon.pngV502, Gun icon.pngHeaven Striker, Sword icon.pngDiska of Braveman, Gun icon.pngFrozen Shooter, Sword icon.pngSlicer of Fanatic, and more!

Material and Mag plans

Standard Leveling for New Players

If you're a new player and want a simple material plan, this is what you want.
This plans is designed for the player who does not have extra equipment from other characters or friends, and doesn't want to keep swapping their equipment and mags as they level.

Plan Mag Units Shield Materials
Power Def Mind Evade Luck Unused
Important Stats Only

Any high MIND mag

Examples
Unit icon.pngV801, Wizard/Technique Shield icon.pngRafoie Merge, Shield icon.pngGifoie Merge - - 150 - - -

Melee Leveling

This will not be a beginner friendly leveling path for FOnewm. This is suggesting starting gear and a MAG to contribute minor non-technique based damage for areas of the game where techniques are weak. You may consider running some of these items for boss rush quests on Ultimate difficulty (like TTF), though it's hardly necessary to do so (running the Standard Leveling build and Shifta, and Zalure will work just as well as this)

Optimized leveling

The below plans are for more advanced players who have multiple mags and equipment from other characters or friends. These have better stat growth as the player levels, but require changing out mags and units a lot, so may not be suitable for beginners.

These FOnewm plans specifically maximize technique output. For melee and ranged gameplay while leveling, use the basic leveling melee setup listed above.

Level 200

At level 200 (or when approaching 200), it is recommended to reset your materials and use the plans below, as you will get more usage out of them as the leveling plans are designed to make leveling easier.

*This general use mag can also be used for Episode 2 at the cost of swapping V801's cast speed for V502's Hell special attack boost instead.

Max stats

If wishing to get all yellow numbers, use the plan below. However, these plans are generally not recommended, as they require extra units which block the usage of more utility units.

Additional information

Players leveling FOnewm should aim to maximize his MST stat with Tool icon.pngMind Materials and Unit icon.pngUnits as early as possible, and should pick a mag with a high Mind stat.

As the player gains levels, they can consider creating a new mag and/or equipping different units to boost their ATA stat. ATA is FOnewm's second most important stat as it allows him to make better use of weapons with Demon's or Hell specials. ATA also helps FOnewm meet the requirement to use weapons such as Gun icon.pngRaygun (primarily Demon's or Hell special), Gun icon.pngBringer's Rifle, and Gun icon.pngES Mechgun. As many enemies in Ultimate difficulty Multiplayer scaling have high elemental resistances, FOnewm can first provide support followed by contributing with the aforementioned weapons in these cases.

Although lower priority than MST and ATA, ATP can also be an important stat, as FOnewm depends on this stat to equip Sword icon.pngSlicer of Fanatic, Sword icon.pngExcalibur, and Sword icon.pngES J-Cutter or Sword icon.pngES Slicer. Slicer of Fanatic's ATP requirement is low enough to be accessible with a Simple POW Mag very early on in Ultimate difficulty.

Excalibur's high weapon ATP provides FOnewm with his highest damage weapon option, but is only accessible at a very high character level if no Tool icon.pngPower Materials are used. This is even more true in the case of ES J-Cutter and ES Slicer, which also typically depend on a unit slot being dedicated to Unit icon.pngV502 or Unit icon.pngV501 to boost the effectiveness of Hell or Arrest special attacks, while FOnewm is also depending on his unit slots to provide battle speed, Smartlink, and additional stats while leveling.

Although DFP is generally an insignificant stat, in certain cases maximizing this stat can help prevent the player from being knocked down. At level 200, there are different Mag stat plans for different scenarios that maximize certain stats and offer different levels of flexibility for Unit selection.

Note that the Max Stats plan is highly not recommended here; it requires FOnewm to use all four of his unit slots for stats, resulting in him being unable to use various utility units such as Unit icon.pngSmartlink, Unit icon.pngV501, Unit icon.pngV502, Unit icon.pngV801, Unit icon.pngHeavenly/Technique (or lesser Technique unit), Unit icon.pngHeavenly/HP (or multiple), or any of the Cure units such as Unit icon.pngCure/Freeze and Unit icon.pngCure/Paralysis. It also depends on Shield icon.pngRed Ring to provide MST, but a Technique-boosting barrier would be preferred in this slot for offensive technique damage in addition to max MST without Red Ring.

Level 1 Disk-learning Setup

FOnewm can reach 1,010 MST at level 1 with the following equipment and materials, which allows him to learn all level 30 technique disks except Grants (1,030 MST.) If you're aiming to learn the standard FO technique set (level 29 attack techniques, level 25-26 Grants and Megid,) only 974 MST is necessary (due to level 29 Rabarta.)
