HUmar is a human Hunter. He has the second highest ATP in the game, and has decent starting stats, having high HP, ATP, and decent ATA. With good equipment, he is able to do very good damage, as long as another party member or Photon Blast provides him with
Shifta.
However, despite his description on the character creation screen, he is considered to be one of the least balanced and least versatile character types in the game due to not having access to traps, high level techniques,
Shifta or
Deband, or any special weapons from the Ranger arsenal. HUmar is only advised for players who wish to play a character which could be considered a challenge, as the lack of crowd control options means that players must be creative in how they tackle various different scenarios.
If the player is truly looking for a character type suited for beginners, or a jack-of-all-trades, RAmar and RAmarl are advised over HUmar. If the player wishes to play a Hunter specifically, HUnewearl is more beginner friendly than HUmar due to her access to good support techniques.
Pros and cons
Pros
- Second highest ATP - Allows HUmar to do lots of damage in the right scenarios
- Access to powerful Hunter weapons - Weapons such as
Dark Flow and
Vjaya allow HUmar to do extremely high damage, albeit only in specific scenarios and for high costs
Cons
- Limited effective range - In comparison to Rangers and Forces, Hunters do not have as much area-of-effect range, meaning their effectiveness is lowered if not positioned correctly
- Bad for solo play - Without access to Shifta, HUmar must rely on
S-Red's Blade, making him weaker than both HUcast and HUnewearl in solo play - Low level techniques - HUmar's techniques have slow casting speed and low range, making them less useful for purposes such as stun locking or crowd control
- Ineffective crowd control - Without access to traps, higher level techniques, or the Ranger weapons, HUmar can struggle with crowd control
General Recommendations for HUmar
Purplenum
M&A60 Vise with high hit attribute is a core HUmar item that has many potential sources on
Purplenum. Vise and
Pyscho Wand can be hunted together in Caves, often in the same quest.
Frozen Shooter and
Lavis Cannon can be hunted by
Purplenum in the Forest.
The Central Control Area offers a solid hunt for the valuable
Heaven Punisher, along with the end-game special improving unit:
V502.
Parasitic Gene Flow drops from Ogla Flow on this id, however,
Yellowboze is a competitive ID for hunting this item (Maximum Attack E: Gal Da Val can be a better quest to hunt for PGF on
Purplenum compared to Respective Tomorrow).
For Point of Disaster in Episode 4, the Rare Boss, Kondrieu drops
Heaven Striker, which, like
Psycho Wand, can be traded to other players for
Photon Drops to afford better gear for your HUmar. Even a hitless
Heaven Striker can be worth one or two photon drops while trading with other players.
Bluefull
A similar choice to
Purplenum, but the primary hunt this id offers is
Vjaya instead of
M&A60 Vise.
Vjaya is incredibly strong, but less frequently utilized weapon by players in standard gameplay when compared with other HUmar staples like
M&A60 Vise,
Dark Flow, or
Diska of Braveman.
Psycho Wand can be hunted in the Seabed of Episode 2 from Delbiter.
Heaven Striker can be hunted from Del-D in the Ruins of Episode 1. This ID offers one of the easiest, but least likely to yield success hunts for the highly desirable ranger weapon,
Heaven Punisher from Hildetorrs (rare enemy) in Episode 1.
Yellowboze
Yellowboze can hunt
Frozen Shooter and
Spread Needle,
Cannon Rouge (rare enemy), as well as both
Lame d'Argent and
Galatine - two of the best sabers for any class that can wield them. Other strong items to hunt on Yellowboze include:
V101,
Daylight Scar (rare boss),
Photon Filter, and
Select Cloak, the last two being components for
Divine Filter. A HUmar with this id will likely be spending most of the time in the Mines of Episode 1, and Episode 4 quests that include killing the boss (for chances to hunt
Galatine, or
Daylight Scar).
Whitill
Whitill is a powerful ID that gets many coveted and valued items in almost every area in the game. Whitill is the most unrestrictive ID, giving players the freedom to play any content and still have the chance of scoring something big, in contrast to more restrictive IDs such as
Bluefull, which focus players into certain areas. Whitill finds many good items such as
V502,
Heaven Striker,
Diska of Braveman,
Frozen Shooter,
Slicer of Fanatic, and more!
Viridia
If the player's primary interests are boss rushes like Towards The Future and Respective Tomorrow,
Viridia is a good choice.
Red Ring and
Parasitic Gene "Flow" are coveted drops which only drop from the bosses at the end of Episode 1 and Episode 2.
L&K38 Combat with high hit attribute is a very potent HUmar weapon and highly sought after by other players.
Skyly
Skyly has access to many essential HUmar items and an increased rate of finding sword-type weapons, which is important in the early game and for finding Hit
Caliburs later. Items include
Daylight Scar,
Sealed J-Sword,
Zanba,
Red Ring, and
Lame d'Argent. Be warned that
Skyly is not always the ideal HUmar id, despite it having many items desired by the class. Players who find success with this id for HUmar likely have experience and strong middle to late game items at their disposal.
