FOnewm is a newman Force who boasts the strongest Gi- and Ra-series techniques amongst all the Forces, due to his high MST and extra damage boosts. He is widely considered to be the strongest and most versatile Force, as alongside his unparalleled offensive Technique power (colloquially known as "nuking"), he has enough ATP and ATA to equip various important weapons for physical damage in situations where techniques are not viable.
With his versatility, he can tackle all manners of content effectively and does not have any major drawbacks. While he will not hit as hard with weapons as the human Forces, his ATP is respectable and access to
Excalibur allows him to do high damage where necessary, and his 180 ATA allows him to use Demon's
ES Mechgun for very high HP/DFP targets.
Pros and cons
Pros
- Strongest techniques - Due to FOnewm's high MST and +30% boost to the Gi- and Ra-series techniques, FOnewm is the strongest Force for casting area-of-effect techniques
- Extremely powerful solo - As FOnewm is a Force, he is very powerful when alone in Episodes 1 and 4
- High Force ATA - With 180 ATA, FOnewm can hit more reliably than the human forces, and has access to
ES Mechgun for Demon's usage - Decent melee - While not as strong as FOmar/FOmarl, and despite his lack of access to
Galatine, FOnewm does have access to
Excalibur and Hell
ES J-Cutter/
ES Slicer, and he is capable of dealing decent damage with physical weapons where necessary
Cons
- Low support range - FOnewm does not have any extra range with support techniques as FOmar/FOmarl do, making support hard in parties where a supportive party member may be necessary. This is mostly mitigated with the use of
Striker of Chao
Section ID choice
Note that the section ID choices below are merely suggestions, and are not required choices for playing FOnewm. All IDs have tangible benefits, leaving ID selection up to player preference. Below are a few recommended IDs for FOnewm depending on what type of item coverage is preferred.
Finding items that FOnewm hunts well
Bluefull
This section id will be a strong choice for players while they spend time leveling in Very Hard.
While leveling, you'll want to run quests that allow you to hunt for the rare enemy, Del Rappy, for a chance to drop
Ignition Cloak. You can hunt for
Heavenly/Arms and
Photon Crystal in Very Hard, which can be traded to other players to help acquire items for FOnewm.
Once you reach Ultimate on Bluefull, you can hunt for
Limiter and then unseal it yourself to
Adept, and also chase high value items like:
Pyscho Wand,
Heaven Punisher, and
Nei's Claw. Though Bluefull boasts one of the best Pyscho Wand hunts in the game by rate, new players may find it easier to hunt for it themselves through
Purplenum in caves.
Redria
This is the most popular ID to host Episode 4 desert quests while hunting for
Heaven Striker and
Diska of Braveman.
Redria also has good Ruins drops, finding both
Red Ring and
Diska of Braveman.
Purplenum
You can hunt for
Pyscho Wand in Caves, and host popular hunts for other items in all episodes of the game for items like
M&A60 Vise, which can be traded to other players for photon drops to help trade for FOnewm items.
Yellowboze
While leveling in Very Hard, you'll want to run quests that allow you to hunt for the rare enemy, Del Rappy, for a chance to drop
Ignition Cloak. When you reach Ultimate, you'll have access to some of the best hunts in the game including:
Galatine,
Excalibur,
V101,
Daylight Scar (rare boss),
Frozen Shooter, and many other items that have modest value trading with other players.
Greenill
Forces are masters of Episode 4, and Greenill has a very powerful Episode 4 with items such as
V101,
Heaven Striker, and
Cannon Rouge. Greenill has decent Ruins drops as well, finding both
Red Ring and
Monkey King Bar.
Finding items for FOnewm
Pinkal
If you are looking to hunt items with value for trading, this is rarely the best section id for this character. If you do not intend to trade with other players on Ephinea, Pinkal will be a good choice because it finds many core Force items such as:
Fire Scepter: Agni,
Ice Staff: Dagon, and
Storm Wand: Indra. It also has boosted rates to all amplifier hunts. Once reaching Ultimate, Pinkal offers useful Force items such as
Slicer of Fanatic,
V801,
Limiter,
Guardianna,
Lame d'Argent, and
Diska of Braveman.
General good ID
Whitill
Whitill is a powerful ID that gets many coveted and valued items in almost every area in the game. Whitill is the most unrestrictive ID, giving players the freedom to play any content and still have the chance of scoring something big, in contrast to more restrictive IDs such as
Bluefull, which focus players into certain areas. Whitill finds many good items such as
V502,
Heaven Striker,
Diska of Braveman,
Frozen Shooter,
Slicer of Fanatic, and more!
Material and Mag plans

Standard leveling for new players
If you are a new player and want a simple material plan, this is what you want.

Melee leveling
This plan is less relevant for new players but becomes more useful many hours into Ultimate difficulty multiplayer gameplay if the player wishes to contribute more to the party than
Shifta,
Deband,
Jellen, and
Zalure in areas filled with Monsters of high elemental resistances - notably all areas of Episode 2 as well as all boss fights (excluding Saint Million/Shambertin/Kondrieu).
However, timely use of support techniques already provides an incredible benefit to a multiplayer party and is sufficient contribution from a new Force player to an Ultimate party.

Level 200
At level 200 (or when approaching 200), it is often recommended to reset your materials with the /matreset chat command and use the plans below, as you will get more value out of them compared to the leveling plans that are designed to make leveling easier.
For FOnewm at level 200, the heavy
Mind Material investment from leveling guides is still relevant - typically making /matreset optional.

- ↑ This general use mag can also be used for Episode 2 at the cost of swapping
V801's cast speed for
V502's Hell special attack boost instead, making the "Episode 2" mag setup optional.
- ↑ These unused materials can be used towards additional LCK or DFP for minor benefits.
- ↑ This build allows usage of
Slicer of Fanatic to maximum effect which is particularly effective against Girtablulu, while otherwise maximizing offensive technique output for killing all other enemies in Episode 4 - both with or without the inclusion of
V101's stat increases. The remaining points increase DFP to exactly max with V101 equipped.
Other
Optimized leveling
NOT FOR BEGINNERS.
The information in this section is only relevant to players looking to prepare a few specialized mags to share across several FOnewm characters to reach their peak Technique potential as early as possible.
The below plans are for more advanced players who have multiple mags as well as equipment or resources from other characters. These have better stat growth as the player levels, but require changing out mags and units a lot, and are not suitable for beginners.
These FOnewm plans specifically maximize technique output. For melee and ranged gameplay while leveling, use the Melee leveling plan listed above.
| Plan | Mag | Units | Shield | Materials | |||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Power | Def | Mind | Evade | Luck | Unused | ||||
| Level 146-170 | 5/0/45/150 | Technique Merges (especially Gi and Ra) |
- | - | 150 | - | - | - | |
| Level 171-181 | 5/11/73/111 | ||||||||
| Level 182+ | 5/0/109/86 | ||||||||
Max stats
If wishing to get all yellow numbers, use the plan below. However, these plans are generally not recommended, as they require extra units which block the usage of more utility units.
| Plan | Mag | Units | Shield | Materials | |||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Power | Def | Mind | Evade | Luck | Unused | ||||
| Max Stats | 5/6/20/169 | 62 | - | - | 42 | 13 | 33 | ||
Note that the Max Stats plan is highly not recommended here; it requires FOnewm to use all four of his unit slots for stats, resulting in him being unable to use various utility units such as
Smartlink,
V501/
V502,
V801, a Technique units,
Heavenly/HP (or multiple), or any of the Cure units such as
Cure/Freeze and
Cure/Paralysis. It also depends on
Red Ring to provide MST, but a Technique-boosting barrier paired with max MST would be preferred in this slot to maximize offensive technique damage.
Stat prioritization
MST
Players leveling FOnewm should aim to maximize his MST stat with
Mind Materials and
Units as early as possible, and should pick a mag with a high Mind stat. This lightly scales offensive technique damage and allows learning higher level Technique disks.
ATA
As the player progresses through Ultimate difficulty, they can consider creating a new mag and/or equipping different units to boost their ATA stat as well as incorporating
V101/
Heavenly/Battle and
Smartlink to effectively use weapons.
ATA is FOnewm's second most important stat as it allows him to make better use of weapons with Demon's or Hell specials. ATA also helps FOnewm meet the requirement to use weapons such as
Raygun (primarily Demon's or Hell special),
Bringer's Rifle, and
ES Mechgun. As many enemies in Ultimate difficulty Multiplayer scaling have high elemental resistances, FOnewm can first provide support followed by contributing with the aforementioned weapons in these cases.
ATP
Although lower priority than MST and ATA, ATP can also be an important stat, as FOnewm depends on this stat to equip
Slicer of Fanatic,
Girasole,
Excalibur, and
ES J-Cutter or
ES Slicer.
Slicer of Fanatic and Girasole's ATP requirements are low enough to be accessible with a Simple POW Mag very early on in Ultimate difficulty and will serve as FOnewm's primary ATP-based weaponry for the majority of leveling. Slicer of Fanatic's Demon's special attack paired with the Accuracy glitch is particularly effective.
Excalibur's high weapon ATP, sacrificial damage special attack, and fast animation provides FOnewm with his highest damage weapon option but is only accessible at a very high character level if no
Power Materials are used. This high character level requirement is even more true in the case of ES J-Cutter and ES Slicer, which also depend on a unit slot being dedicated to
V502 or
V501 to boost the effectiveness of Hell or Arrest special attacks, while FOnewm is already using his remaining unit slots to provide battle speed, Smartlink, and additional stats.
- A player looking to spend the majority of their leveling playtime in areas where melee is superior to offensive tech damage could theoretically choose to invest much more into Power Materials instead of Mind Materials in order to access Excalibur and ES Hell J-Cutter/Slicer at much lower levels. However, this is highly niche, comes at the cost of reduced offensive technique output, and requires either a
/matresetor entirely different custom material and mag plan for level 200, and is generally not recommended. - ATP investment to meet
Lame d'Argent's ATP requirement at a low level in order to unseal it into Excalibur can be achieved shortly after unlocking Ultimate difficulty with a typical POW mag and four
Heavenly/Powers without sacrificing much effectiveness or necessitating a custom plan or /matreset.
HP
HP Materials and HP units to increase HP are generally the most effective solution to increase a low level Force's survivability.
DFP
For new players and while leveling in general, DFP as a base stat can safely be ignored.
However, even though DFP is generally an insignificant stat, in certain cases maximizing this stat can help prevent the player from being knocked down. At level 200, there are different Nuking stat plans for different scenarios that prioritize maximizing MST, followed by DFP, and finally other stats to offer different levels of flexibility for unit and weapon selection.
High DFP Barriers may also sometimes be chosen over offense-oriented barriers if the player wishes to prevent some physical enemy attacks from knocking them down or one-shotting them from full HP, but increasing DFP is is far less effective than casting a moderately high level
Jellen on the offending enemy. Also fixed-damage attacks tend to be the attacks most likely to one-shot a player.
Elemental resistance
While additional HP also helps, Elemental resistances can situationally also be relevant - sometimes more relevant - for Forces when leveling. Forces have low HP while some elemental attacks have comparatively very high fixed damage prior to reduction by the player's EFR, EIC, ETH, and ELT stats. Dark Falz phase 1 and 2
Rabarta, Dark Falz phase 3
Grants in Hard difficulty, and Epsilon
Rafoie in Ultimate difficulty are particularly difficult breakpoints for a new Force, so sometimes a specific high resistance stat is advisable to survive these encounters. Some high resistance Barriers are recommended in the Beginners table above or listed in Recommended endgame equipment below, and
Glide Divine can provide an additional 15 points to every resistance while equipped.
Level 1 Disk-learning Setup
FOnewm can reach 1,010 MST at level 1 with the following equipment and materials, which allows him to learn all level 30 technique disks except Grants (1,030 MST.) If you're aiming to learn the standard FO technique set (level 29 attack techniques, level 25-26 Grants and Megid,) only 974 MST is necessary (due to level 29 Rabarta.)
- 300 MST -
Mind Material x150 - 80 MST -
Mercurius Rod - 390 MST - 5/0/0/195 Max MND "Console" mag (
Mark III, etc)
- 185 MND mag is acceptable for level 29 tech set, as long as you have all other build components
- 180 MST -
Heavenly/Mind x4 - 60 MST - FOnewm base stat
