Mags are a necessity for all characters, as they provide large stat boosts, access to Photon Blasts, and certain utility through their Mag trigger effects.

When starting out, Mags will seem complicated, but feeding one and getting what you want is actually very easy!

This guide will explain how to make a simple POW Mag (45-50+ POW, 45-50+ DEX) and a simple MIND Mag (45-50+ DEX, 45-50+ MIND) with three Photon Blasts and a fourth-stage evolution, including Mylla & Youlla.pngMylla & Youlla for the POW Mag.

For players looking to learn more about how to modify a Mag plan or create one themselves, additional resources can be found below the Simple Mag guides.

Simple POW Mag

A simple POW Mag is ideal for all Hunters and all Rangers.

  1. Feed your Mag Tool icon.pngAntidotes until it evolves at level 10. It will turn into a Mag icon.pngVaruna, Mag icon.pngKalki, or Mag icon.pngVritra, depending on which class evolves it. It will gain the Photon Blast Farlla.pngFarlla, Estlla.pngEstlla, or Leilla.pngLeilla.
  2. Feed your Mag Tool icon.pngAntidotes until it evolves at level 35. It will turn into a Mag icon.pngMarutah, Mag icon.pngMitra, or Mag icon.pngAshvinau, depending on which Mag it evolves from. It will also gain the Photon Blast Pilla.pngPilla.
  3. Feed your Mag Tool icon.pngAntidotes (Mag icon.pngMarutah or Mag icon.pngAshvinau) or Tool icon.pngAntiparalysis (Mag icon.pngMitra) until level 49.
  4. Transfer your Mag to a Hunter with a ViridiaSkylyPurplenumRedriaYellowboze section ID, or a Ranger with a GreenillBluefullPinkalOranWhitill section ID, then feed it Tool icon.pngAntidotes/Tool icon.pngAntiparalysis on that character until it evolves at level 50. It will gain the Photon Blast Mylla & Youlla.pngMylla & Youlla.
    • You can transfer your Mag by depositing it in your account-wide "common bank" (which can be accessed with the /bank chat command). Then, create a new character of the appropriate section ID and class and retrieve it from your common bank by using the same command.
  5. From this point on, feed your Mag Mate icon.pngMonomates (or Mate icon.pngDimates) until it has 45 POW, and then feed it Tool icon.pngAntidotes/Tool icon.pngAntiparalysis (whichever increases DEX only) until it has 45 DEX.
    • If your Mag evolves again at this stage, don't worry! Mags can change forms regularly at levels 50-100. Find the Mag on the Mag feeding tables page, and use those charts to continue only increasing DEX.
  6. Once your Mag has reached 5 DEF, 45 POW, and 45 DEX (5/45/45/0), choose one of the Mags below and follow the steps provided to evolve it at level 100:

Your Mag's stats will now be either 5/50/45/0, or 5/45/50/0, depending on which of the above Mags you chose. Now, you just have to level it to 200 by feeding it how you wish to raise the stats:

  • POW: Mate icon.pngMonomate or Mate icon.pngDimate
  • DEX: Tool icon.pngAntidote/Tool icon.pngAntiparalysis (varies by Mag; see Mag feeding tables to be sure which only increases DEX)
  • MIND: Fluid icon.pngMonofluid or Fluid icon.pngDifluid

If you are unsure as to which stats your final Mag should have, you should only raise POW until the Mag reaches level 200 – for example, 145 or 150 POW, with 50 or 45 DEX.

Simple MIND Mag

A simple MIND Mag is ideal for all Forces.

DEX is included on this Mag for two reasons: First, using certain weapons for their special attacks is extremely useful on Forces in situations where techniques are not, and having higher ATA helps with this. Second, a certain amount of DEX is required on a Mag at level 100 for it to evolve into the options below.

  1. Feed your Mag Tool icon.pngAntiparalysis until it evolves at level 10.
  2. Feed your Mag Tool icon.pngAntiparalysis until it evolves at level 35. It will turn into a Mag icon.pngMarutah, Mag icon.pngMitra, or Mag icon.pngAshvinau, depending on which Mag it evolves from. It will also gain the Photon Blast Pilla.pngPilla.
  3. Feed your Mag Tool icon.pngAntiparalysis until level 49.
  4. Transfer your Mag to a Hunter or Ranger with a GreenillBluefullPinkalOranWhitill section ID, then feed it Tool icon.pngAntiparalysis until it evolves at 50. It will turn into Mag icon.pngYaksa (on HU) or Mag icon.pngVaraha (on RA) and gain the Photon Blast Golla.pngGolla.
    • You can transfer your Mag by depositing it in your account-wide "common bank" (which can be accessed with the /bank chat command). Then, create a new character of the appropriate section ID and class and retrieve it from your common bank by using the same command.
  5. From this point on, feed your Mag Fluid icon.pngMonofluids (or Fluid icon.pngDifluids) until it has 45 MIND, and then feed it Tool icon.pngAntidotes/Tool icon.pngAntiparalysis (whichever increases DEX only) until it has 45 DEX.
    • If your Mag evolves again at this stage, don't worry! Mags can change forms regularly at levels 50-100. Find the Mag on the Mag feeding tables page, and use those charts to continue only increasing DEX.
  6. Once your Mag has reached 5 DEF, 45 MIND, and 45 DEX (5/0/45/45), choose one of the Mags below and follow the steps provided to evolve it at level 100:

Your Mag's stats will now be either 5/0/45/50, or 5/0/50/45, depending on which of the above Mags you chose. Now, you just have to level it to 200 by feeding it how you wish to raise the stats:

  • POW: Mate icon.pngMonomate or Mate icon.pngDimate
  • DEX: Tool icon.pngAntidote/Tool icon.pngAntiparalysis (varies by Mag; see Mag feeding tables to be sure which only increases DEX)
  • MIND: Fluid icon.pngMonofluid or Fluid icon.pngDifluid

If you are unsure as to which stats your final Mag should have, continue raising MIND only until the Mag is level 200.

Advanced MIND Mag

Another option for caster Forces is to make a Mag with as much MIND as possible. The Mag's stats end up being either 15/0/0/185 or 13/0/0/187 with a time-consuming trick.

While the feeding plan for this Mag is simple (only Fluid icon.pngMonofluid), overall this plan is more advanced because it is more technical and time-consuming.

  1. Transfer your Mag to a Hunter. Feed your Mag Fluid icon.pngMonofluid until it evolves at level 10. It will turn into a Mag icon.pngVaruna and gain the Photon Blast Farlla.pngFarlla.
    • It is not strictly necessary to use a Hunter here to achieve the goal stats but you can get Estlla.pngEstlla later and Farlla.pngFarlla is generally better than Leilla.pngLeilla or Golla.pngGolla which are the only other options. Hunters also raise this Mag a little bit faster.
    • If you want a 13/0/0/187 Mag, you need to learn the bank/leave game trick. When a Mag is put into the bank, any odd values will round down to even values. Since odd values of DEF are common, this can be used to lower how much total DEF the Mag has. If you bank after every Fluid icon.pngMonofluid, you should be able to just barely reach 13/0/0/22 by Level 35.
  2. Feed your Mag Fluid icon.pngMonofluid until it evolves at level 35. It will turn into a Mag icon.pngVayu and gain the Photon Blast Mylla & Youlla.pngMylla & Youlla.
    • At this point, your Mag's stats should be either 15/0/0/20 or 13/0/0/22. Future steps should only increase its MIND.
    • For a 13/0/0/22 Mag, feeding Fluid icon.pngTrifluid without leveling DEX saves time and adds a bit of wiggle room for the DEF value.
  3. Transfer your Mag to a Hunter with a GreenillBluefullPinkalOranWhitill section ID. Feed your Mag Tool icon.pngMoon Atomizer and Fluid icon.pngMonofluid until it evolves at level 50. It will turn into a Mag icon.pngBana and gain the Photon Blast Estlla.pngEstlla.
  4. Until level 200, feed your Mag Fluid icon.pngMonofluid (or Fluid icon.pngTrifluid using Table 6).
    • At level 100, evolving to Mag icon.pngSoniti can save some time and money.

Planning a custom Mag

Planning a custom Mag plan often follows a process similar to the Simple Mag guides above, but this section aims to give the player the resources and reasoning to adapt a Mag plan to their needs or create a plan from scratch.

Before starting

  • Mag Synchro and IQ secondary stats are usually ignored during the leveling process in order to target specific levels of DEF, POW, DEX, and MIND by level 200. The level 200 Mag can be fed after the leveling process to raise Synchro and IQ to their maximum without affecting the primary stat levels.
  • Additional DEF levels beyond the starter Mag's 5 DEF are typically undesirable on most Mags. This limits and simplifies the choices to feed the Mag during its starter Mag, first evolution, and second evolution stages. These stages have few feeding options to keep DEF gains from irreversibly fully leveling the stat up. Third evolution Mags and beyond have more options to raise other stats while not gaining, or even outright decreasing, DEF stat progress.
  • Planning out each step in full and keeping the notes in an accessible place before starting the feeding process is the safest way to prevent mistakes. Raising a mag is an hours-long endeavor, and having the process detailed step-by-step and available to reference when needed will keep you on track.
    • Use the Mag feed simulator tool Magatama and other resources linked below to quickly build a plan and verify that every step will proceed as expected.
    • Details to note include the character class, gender, and Section ID needed at first evolution, third evolution, and fourth evolution, as well as the stat expectations and requirements at each evolution, and the necessary item type(s) to feed at each stage.
    • Noting a target level for each stat by level 100 to either match or avoid (depending on the desired final Mag form) fourth evolution stat equivalency requirements can also be very helpful to avoid a costly mistake at the halfway point.

Custom Mag

  • A starter Mag uses Mag feeding table 1 and will typically be fed exclusively one type of item - either Tool icon.pngAntidotes (mostly DEX, some POW), Mate icon.pngMonomates (mostly POW), Fluid icon.pngMonofluids (mostly MIND), or Tool icon.pngAntiparalysis (mostly DEX, some MIND).
  • First evolution Mag at level 10 is dependent solely on which character class the mag is fed during the level 9 -> 10 transition. All three of these use Mag feeding table 1.
    • First evolution Mags are typically fed exclusively Tool icon.pngAntidotes (mostly DEX, some POW) or Tool icon.pngAntiparalysis (mostly DEX, some MIND) from level 10 to level 35.
    • Hunters evolve Mag icon.pngVaruna, learning Farlla.pngFarlla.
    • Rangers evolve Mag icon.pngKalki, learning Estlla.pngEstlla. This is the most useful PB of these choices, so this evolution is commonly picked. However, it is worth noting that the Second evolution Mags that Kalki evolves into use Mag feeding table 3 which is comparatively slow - but extremely simple - to level from 35 to 50.
    • Forces evolve Mag icon.pngVritra, learning Leilla.pngLeilla.
  • Second evolution Mag at level 35 is dependent on the first evolution Mag and the Mag's highest stat among POW, DEX, or MIND.
    • Mag feeding tables begin to diverge here depending on the specific Mag evolution. See the Second evolution Mags table and Mag feeding tables to ensure you are feeding the correct items for the stats you want to increase while also not leveling up undesired stats.
    • Be aware that some feeding tables moving forward occasionally may require alternating items in certain quantities to prevent leveling up an undesired stat.
    • The PB learned at level 35 is Golla.pngGolla for any POW evolution, Pilla.pngPilla for any DEX evolution, or Mylla & Youlla.pngMylla & Youlla for any MIND evolution. As DEX will be highest at this step if keeping DEF from leveling, most Mags will learn Pilla.pngPilla now.
  • Third evolution Mag at level 50 depends on several factors, including stat distribution, character class, and the character's Section ID.
    • As Mylla & Youlla.pngMylla & Youlla is typically desired on a Mag and usually most easily learned at this step, check the third evolution Mags table and use an alternate character of the correct character class and Section ID for an evolution that can learn Mylla & Youlla.pngMylla & Youlla with the Mag stats on the Mag for the level 49 -> 50 feed.
    • DEX > POW > MIND Mags typically choose Mag icon.pngIla or Mag icon.pngKaitabha.
    • MIND > DEX > POW Mags typically choose Mag icon.pngIla or Mag icon.pngKabanda.
    • After ensuring the Mag's final PB slot is filled with the desired PB with a specific evolution on the level 49 -> 50 feed, continue feeding according to the current mag feeding table.
    • All Mag feeding tables available moving forward offer methods to level primarily POW, DEX, or MIND without leveling up a secondary stat.
    • Third evolution Mags may freely change form at or during any 5th level if any of the factors are changed. If this happens, check Mag feeding tables again to ensure you are feeding the correct items for the desired stats.
  • Fourth evolution Mag - if desired - can be achieved at level 100 (or alternatively at level 110, 120, 130... 200) by matching the requirements seen in the table at the link. Be aware that an undesired fourth evolution can occur accidentally if the stat distribution matches any of the fourth evolution Mag formulas. If a third evolution Mag is desired at or beyond level 100, specifically plan stat distributions to not match an equivalency formula at level 100, 110, 120, etc. A fourth evolution Mag cannot revert back to a third evolution Mag.
    • All fourth evolution Mags follow a formula requiring the sum of two specific stats to equal the sum of the remaining two stats. They also require a specific choice of character class, character gender, and the character's Section ID.
    • The stat requirement formulas appear in this format: DEF + POW = DEX + MIND (or a variation of the primary stat levels placed in different orders). DEF is included on one side of the equation and is usually kept at 5. A typical Mag will have been raised to this point with a mix of POW and DEX or MIND and DEX. This means that the two highest primary stats on the mag are typically aimed to be 45 and 50 to match the desired fourth evolution Mag requirements.
    • 5/45/50/0, 5/50/45/0, 5/0/45/50, and 5/0/50/45 are the most common target stats for a level 100 fourth evolution Mag.
    • Typically a planned Mag targets the stat requirements at level 100 and will be transferred to an alternate character matching the remaining requirements for the desired fourth evolution Mag for the level 99 -> 100 feed.
  • A level 200 Mag has its primary stat levels locked. DEF, POW, DEX, and MIND can neither level up nor down. However, the Mag can still be fed to increase its IQ and Synchro which offer bonuses to PBs or PB chains started by the player with this mag equipped as well as bonuses to some Mag trigger rates.

Cell Mags

  • Cell Mags have varying requirements to be created. As examples, Tool icon.pngKit of Mark III is only usable on a starter Mag icon.pngMag, Tool icon.pngRappy's Beak is usable on any level 50+ third evolution Mag, and Tool icon.pngCell of Mag 502 is usable on any level 100+ third evolution Mag. Many other Mag cells have additional requirements.
    • See the cell Mags table linked above or the specific Mag page itself to see its requirements.
    • Mag icon.pngChao can be notably difficult to raise, as it both requires high DEF levels and a third evolution Mag with level 35 or greater of each DEF, POW, DEX, and MIND. If these four primary stats are all exactly level 35 (at Mag level 140), the third evolution Mag will fulfill the requirements for a fourth evolution Mag accidentally.
    • Mag feeding table 7 is used by all cell Mags and some fourth evolution Mags. This table offers the fastest and simplest methods for pure single stat gains for POW, DEX, or MIND.

Notes

  • Although the details - including secondary stat gains (if any) and stat decreases (if any) - can vary depending on the Mag feeding table used by the Mag, the general correlation of item fed to stat gained is:
    • Mate icon.pngMonomates or Mate icon.pngDimates offer primarily POW gain.
    • Fluid icon.pngMonofluids or Fluid icon.pngDifluids offer primarily MIND gain.
    • Tool icon.pngAntidotes or Tool icon.pngAntiparalysis offer primarily DEX gain.
    • Mate icon.pngTrimates or Fluid icon.pngTrifluids offer primarily POW gain or MIND gain respectively, but they also often offer stat gains to DEF or another potentially undesired stat. Also, they are significantly more expensive with usually minimal additional POW or MIND gain compared to the cheaper alternatives.
    • Tool icon.pngSol Atomizers and Tool icon.pngMoon Atomizers do not follow a consistent pattern across all Mag feeding tables.
    • Tool icon.pngStar Atomizers offer low-to-moderate gains to most or all stats.
  • DEF is notoriously difficult to level up to high levels intentionally. Only Mag feeding table 4 offers a method to easily and exclusively level up DEF.
