EN4 Claw reset

From Ephinea PSO Wiki

EN4 Claw reset refers to the most optimal strategy of efficiently hunting common weapons. It is most notably used for acquiring high-hit Sword icon.pngCaliburs.

This method involves running the Episode 1 Quest Quest icon.pngEndless Nightmare 4, where players defeat 26 Claws, which have weapons as their set drop. Along the way, several item boxes are destroyed, further increasing the chance of obtaining common weapons. Some of those item boxes are guaranteed to drop weapons, further boosting the likelihood of finding the desired drop.

Strategy

The most efficient way to execute this hunt is by playing as either FOmar or FOnewm. Their innate Normal Technique boost enables them to quickly eliminate Claws with Gizonde.pngGizonde (FOnewm may also use Razonde.pngRazonde with his Hard Technique boost). Disk icon.pngTechnique damage can be further enhanced by equipping Frame icon.pngTempest Cloak and Shield icon.pngGizonde Merge (or Shield icon.pngRazonde Merge). Male classes have the fastest casting animation when unarmed, allowing them to lock enemies in place.

A video guide can be found here. In the video, there are two instances at 0:34 & 1:00 where the Force casts Rafoie.pngRafoie to destroy item boxes. Rafoie.pngRafoie has a wide enough range to break item boxes across multiple rooms. However, since dropped items cannot be viewed from a distance, it is highly recommended to install the item reader addon. This addon displays all items dropped on the floor, ensuring no important drops are missed. A link to the installation can be found here.

If an important item drops from the boxes destroyed at 1:00, the player must enter the room to the right at the end of the video. To retrieve the dropped items, the player can walk through the waterfall on the right.

Boosts

The hunt can be significantly improved with drop rate boosts from Anguish and Weekly boosts.

The quest should be played when a weekly DAR boost is active, as this increases the likelihood of enemies dropping items at all. It should also be played on Anguish Level 3, as this further increases the chances of obtaining high-Hit common weapons from defeated enemies. Playing on Anguish improves drop rates in the following ways:

The pattern increase is the most significant boost, as it pushes the Ruins 1 area pattern to the best possible in the game. This increases the likelihood of finding common weapons with higher amounts of hit.

Note: the anguish boosts only apply to common weapons dropped from enemies. Item boxes are unaffected by any drop boosts, including the change in area patterns.

In a single reset, a total of 26 Claws, 18 item boxes, and 4 set weapon boxes are defeated and destroyed. Playing the quest on Anguish Level 3 during the weekly DAR boost yields an average of:

The distinction between enemy and item boxes is crucial, as drop boosts only affect the 3.27 weapon drops from enemies. For more detail on how the item drop system works, see Item drops.
