This exchange is notable for, among other things, the tool that allows you a more cost-effective and faster option of adding attributes to weapons, as a Photon Sphere adds 30% to a non-hit attribute (so long as the attribute is 70% or less) instead of, for example, spending 100 Photon Drops to add only 25% to that attribute.

If the player brings Paganini the data from the terminal at the top of , the "Modify ES Weapon" option will be available for the character that completes this sidequest, though it can be completed on any difficulty. (Paganini will no longer be accessible in this quest for that character once you have done this, and Hopkins will only state that, "My father is working on a huge project right now.", as an alternative method of checking completion.)
* Start the East Tower quest
* Talk to Hopkins in the lab (he is in the same place you would find him in for accessing "Modify ES Weapon" after sidequest completion)
* Kill Epsilon at the top floor of Control Tower, then interact with the terminal (you will receive a Quest Board item).
** Upon killing Epsilon, player teleporters (via or ) can no longer be created, and any that are active will be turned off. The gate in the Lab leading to the Central Control Area will also become locked. If you use the provided teleporter before interacting with the terminal, you will be forced to redo the quest to properly complete the sidequest.
* After clearing the quest, make sure to talk to Hopkins again before handing in the quest at the Hunters Guild.
This allows the player to add a special attack to their ES weapon, with the available specials depending on the number of PDs in the player's inventory and the ES Weapon in question.

As a prerequisite, first the player's character must collect the data for Paganini (see Adding specials to ES weapons above for directions).
Then if that character also brings Paganini the data from the terminal in Seabed during quest, the "Enhance weapon's Photon" option will be available for the character that completes this sidequest, though it can be completed on any difficulty. (Unlike East Tower, there is no easy way to check through Hopkins if you have already completed the West Tower sidequest, as Hopkins in this quest will say the same "My father is working on a huge project right now." line, both before completing the previous sidequest as well as after completing this one.)
* Start the West Tower quest after having completed the East Tower sidequest
* Talk to Hopkins in the lab (he is in the same place you would find him in for accessing "Enhance weapon's Photon" after sidequest completion)
* Traverse the Seabed Upper levels until you find and access the terminal containing the Research Data (you will receive a Quest Board item).
** Unlike the previous sidequest, you do not have to continue onto the Control Tower to complete this sidequest. Simply access the terminal and then or back to Pioneer 2.
* Return to the lab and talk to Hopkins before ending the quest
This allows the player to add and boost attribute percentages on their weapons for a set amount of PDs, at 4 PD per 1%, or 20 PDs per 5% on an attribute. A Photon Sphere can also be used to add 30% to an attribute, but only if the attribute in question is at or below 70%. There are some restrictions to adding attributes:
* a weapon cannot have more than three attributes (, , , and cannot have more than two, and ES weapons can't have any at all),
* Hit cannot be added to a weapon,
* an attribute cannot exceed 100%.

Paganini's exchange

By bringing a minimum number of Tool icon.pngPhoton Drops to Hopkins (XZ: 90, -220) at a different part of Pioneer 2 during this quest, he will take you to Paganini to exchange them for one of a selection of items depending on the number brought.

Items

WARNING: Only carry the minimum amount of Photon Drops needed in your inventory, as Paganini will take all of them for the trade.
You will be asked to confirm the exchange multiple times before it is finalized.

This exchange is notable for, among other things, the Tool icon.pngPhoton Sphere that allows you a more cost-effective and faster option of adding attributes to weapons, as a Photon Sphere adds 30% to a non-hit attribute (so long as the attribute is 70% or less) instead of, for example, spending 100 Photon Drops to add only 25% to that attribute.

Tool icon.pngPhoton Hoard (commonly abbreviated as "PH") is an item that is equivalent to 99 Tool icon.pngPhoton Drops, allowing the ability to store and carry more Photon Drops than normally capable.

Usage

Prior to the introduction of Photon Hoards, storing and making trades using large amounts of Photon Drops was complicated by the issue of only being able to hold or trade one stack of 99 Photon Drops at a time.

Photon Hoards thus allow for easier management of Photon Drops without having to store them separately in multiple banks (or by irreversibly converting stacks of Photon Drops into Tool icon.pngPhoton Spheres), as Photon Drops have multiple other uses.

Availability

Main article: Quest icon.pngGallon's Shop

In Gallon's Shop, by speaking with a man wearing military garb (XZ: -110, 145) within the room next to the quest counter, one can convert 99 Photon Drops into a Photon Hoard and vice versa.

You must speak with them twice in a quest sitting, while also holding at least one of either a Photon Drop or Photon Hoard, in order to activate this feature.

Note: In order to break a Photon Hoard down into a stack of Photon Drops, you must not be carrying any Photon Drops beforehand.

Trivia

Photon Hoards do not exist in normal gameplay, as they and their feature to supplement Photon Drops are unique to Ephinea, added in an update on June 16th, 2019.

A fourth terminal, located inside Gallon's Shop, allows one to play the Lucky Roulette.
To participate, Lucky Coins are required, which can be gotten from Quest icon.png Phantasmal World #1, #2, #3 and #4.

Lucky Coins can be stored for up to a maximum of 100 Lucky Coins, after which quests will not give you any more until you use some to bring you below the cap.

Each Lucky Coin gives one roll on the roulette. The item received is dependent on the space that is landed on.

If the player brings Paganini the data from the terminal at the top of Quest icon.pngThe East Tower, the "Modify ES Weapon" option will be available for the character that completes this sidequest, though it can be completed on any difficulty. (Paganini will no longer be accessible in this quest for that character once you have done this, and Hopkins will only state that, "My father is working on a huge project right now.", as an alternative method of checking completion.)

  • Start the East Tower quest
  • Talk to Hopkins in the lab (he is in the same place you would find him in Quest icon.pngGallon's Shop for accessing "Modify ES Weapon" after sidequest completion)
  • Kill Epsilon at the top floor of Control Tower, then interact with the terminal (you will receive a Quest Board item).
    • Upon killing Epsilon, player teleporters (via Tool icon.pngTelepipe or Disk icon.pngRyuker) can no longer be created, and any that are active will be turned off. The gate in the Lab leading to the Central Control Area will also become locked. If you use the provided teleporter before interacting with the terminal, you will be forced to redo the quest to properly complete the sidequest.
  • After clearing the quest, make sure to talk to Hopkins again before handing in the quest at the Hunters Guild.

This allows the player to add a special attack to their ES weapon, with the available specials depending on the number of PDs in the player's inventory and the ES Weapon in question.

# of PDs Specials Offered
20 HP Revival*, TP Revival*
30 Blizzard, Burning, Tempest
40 Berserk, Chaos, Geist, Gush, King's, Spirit
50 Arrest, Demon's, Hell
60 Jellen (21), Zalure (21)

* HP Revival and TP Revival refer to passive recovery over time, similar to the Unit icon.pngHP/Revival and Unit icon.pngTP/Revival units.

Note that Sword icon.pngES Knuckle cannot receive HP Revival and TP Revival, Gun icon.pngES Psychogun can only receive HP Revival and TP Revival, and Cane icon.pngES Windmill can only receive HP Revival, Jellen, TP Revival, and Zalure.

As a prerequisite, first the player's character must collect the Quest icon.pngEast Tower data for Paganini (see Adding specials to ES weapons above for directions).

Then if that character also brings Paganini the data from the terminal in Seabed during Quest icon.pngThe West Tower quest, the "Enhance weapon's Photon" option will be available for the character that completes this sidequest, though it can be completed on any difficulty. (Unlike East Tower, there is no easy way to check through Hopkins if you have already completed the West Tower sidequest, as Hopkins in this quest will say the same "My father is working on a huge project right now." line, both before completing the previous sidequest as well as after completing this one.)

  • Start the West Tower quest after having completed the East Tower sidequest
  • Talk to Hopkins in the lab (he is in the same place you would find him in Quest icon.pngGallon's Shop for accessing "Enhance weapon's Photon" after sidequest completion)
  • Traverse the Seabed Upper levels until you find and access the terminal containing the Research Data (you will receive a Quest Board item).
    • Unlike the previous sidequest, you do not have to continue onto the Control Tower to complete this sidequest. Simply access the terminal and then Tool icon.pngTelepipe or Disk icon.pngRyuker back to Pioneer 2.
  • Return to the lab and talk to Hopkins before ending the quest

This allows the player to add and boost attribute percentages on their weapons for a set amount of PDs, at 4 PD per 1%, or 20 PDs per 5% on an attribute. A Photon Sphere can also be used to add 30% to an attribute, but only if the attribute in question is at or below 70%. There are some restrictions to adding attributes:

Trivia

Normally, one could only purchase a Shield icon.png Class Wall by having 300 to 310 Gallon Points. On Ephinea, however, it is possible to purchase one while having more than 310 points.
