Tools are miscellaneous items that are primarily used from the menu (or some other way) rather than being equipped by the player. This page lists all tool items, with the exceptions of technique disks and Mag cells, which can be found on their own pages.
Consumables
Consumable tools are items that can be used from the inventory, primarily (but not exclusively) to restore HP, TP, or cure status effects. All of these tools are available for purchase at all times from the Tools Shop on Pioneer 2.

Materials
Materials are tools that can be used from the inventory to increase a character's base stats. There is a limit to the amount of materials each character can use. Power, Def, Mind, Evade, and Luck materials share a limit of 250 for human characters, and 150 for android and newman characters. HP and TP materials have their own separate limits of 125 each for all classes, with androids being unable to use TP materials.

Enemy parts
Enemy parts are rare tools that can be found as rare drops from their respective enemies on certain section IDs. They cannot be used from the inventory, and can only be converted into the corresponding item by giving them to Dr. Montague in the quests Dr. Osto's Research or
Unsealed Door, but only after completing the quest
Doc's Secret Plan.

Two other enemy parts are available as drops from Epsilon and De Rol Le (and Barba Ray) on certain section IDs and difficulties. These items are not converted into other items by Dr. Montague as stated above; rather, they are combination tools (listed below), and are used from the inventory as detailed in the combination tools section later on.

Combination tools
Combination items are rare tools that are used to create other items. Combination items are used from the inventory, but only when an applicable item is equipped, and when any other required conditions (e.g. level, weapon grind, character class, etc.) are also satisfied.
If two compatible combination items are equipped at the same time (e.g. Spirit Garment and
Invisible Guard when trying to use
Magic Rock "Heart Key"), no combinations may be performed until only one combination is possible.
Combination items
Amplifiers
Amplifiers are another type of combination items, but are always used to make Technique merges, which boost the power or range of their corresponding technique(s). They can only be combined with the corresponding Technique barriers.
Mag cells
Weapon hearts
- Main article: Weapon hearts
Weapon hearts are Ephinea-exclusive rare tools that can be used on certain rare weapons to change its appearance and visuals to that of another weapon, while still retaining the original weapon's behavior and parameters.

Ring platings
- Main article:
The Forge
Ring platings, like ring paints, are Ephinea-exclusive combination tools that can be used to change the appearance of the rare shield Red Ring. Unlike ring paints, which retain the ring model but change the color, ring platings change the Red Ring's appearance entirely to that of another rare shield. They are obtained exclusively from the quest
The Forge.

Music disks
- Main article: Music disks
Music disks are single-use consumable tools which change the background music of the current area for both the user and any other players in the same area. The effects last until the player changes area by any means (e.g. teleporter or Telepipe), at which point the original game music is restored.
Team points
- Main article: Teams
Team point tools are items which can be purchased from the Information Counter in the Visual Lobby under the "Team" option. Team point tools cost the corresponding amount of team points to purchase, and the tool is placed directly into the character's inventory. They can then be used via the "Point Register" function to convert into the appropriate amount of team points, or traded to other players for them to do the same.
